Mark Twain once said that there are liars, d#*n liars and statisticians.
So if your use of statistics will relegate you to being a liar, then consider having fun with them. These can be made into illustrations or words to illustrate a point.
In the TV show Numbers, some interesting statistics are just what the statistician ordered.
1 in 576,000 odds of being hit by lightening.
1 in 880,000 odds of dating a supermodel
1 in 3,000,000 odds of seeing a UFO
1 in 14,000,000 odds of winning the lottery
This means that you have a better chance of being on a late night date with a supermodel when you have the unfortunate accident of getting hit by lightning that emanates from the UFO you both observe.
